This Week in the Garden

Oh goodness!!!!!!! I have got to say this is probably my favorite week in the garden! The roses are FULL, the cherries are ready to pick, and the clematis is almost in it's full glory! Oh my dear sweet Jesus, if you are anything as beautiful as the amazing things you have created... how can I not love you forever?

Order of Canada

In celebration of Canada's birthday on July 1st, the Governor General issued the Order of Canada to Henry Morgentaler, one of the country's leading abortion activists. I consider this a very sad day! It shows the moral fabric of our country and it's gradual erosion and stray away from God. Good for Stephen Harper for right away making a public statement that his government had nothing to do with the decision. I said to my husband that if I had ever received one of those awards, for what I have absolutely no idea, but if I ever had, I would be marching into that office and giving it back, saying that this is not at all what I want to be affiliated with. Kudos to those Catholics who have done just that!

I wonder to myself what kind of response we can have to such a thing. What would Jesus really want us to do in the face of this kind of political and emotional climate that we are living in? So I am thankful for having had a chance to be involved with the Crisis Pregnancy Centers who are actually out there being a support to all kinds of women faced with the trauma of pregnancy, wanted or not. To see these women who are so caring, so non-judgmental, so emotionally involved with women every day, despite what media says about them, they should spend a day there and feel the love! Feel the LOVE people! :)

The Horse Whisperer

She came, she saw, she conquered! We learned a lot and she worked with the big bad boy for quite awhile and gave my girl lots of tips for this new adventure we're taking this summer. My girl is used to controlled, proper, English riding in an arena, so this open field, hack and whack riding that I'm a little more accustomed to is a big new adventure!

Look at that horse actually listening to her! When they lick their lips and start smacking their mouth, it means they are listening and understanding. Who knew? He's looking very calm now. not like the other day when he kicked the dog and tried to toss me off!

Had a fabulous ride on this morning!

Doggy Sleep Over

Since Ditto is named an outside dog(he's allowed in the laundry room and upstairs in the dining room just off the deck-- NO where else inside) and actually does sleep in the garage, the kids have always wanted to sleep with him. There will be NO dogs sleeping in my beds! I refuse to do laundry and sheets with black hair all over it. So they've been begging for a puppy sleep over. So all the blankets and air mattresses were dragged down the laundry room to try it out and see if Ditto could even behave not sleeping in his kennel. He managed just fine as you can see! My girl lasted til about 3 am when she had no room left to sleep because the boys were hogging and ended up back in her own bed. Amazingly Ditto was tip toeing around my boy in the morning like he was trying not to wake him! Very strange. Very strange indeed! I realized how right I am in not letting him sleep in the beds by how much hair there was the next morning. Who knows how much wrestling and carrying on was going on all night :)

Happy Canada Day!

I know it's July 2nd, but I didn't have any photos to post of yesterday until today (photos courtesy of the little Canadian girl). We went down and watched this year's lots of red and white fireworks, which weren't canceled like last year because they forgot some important plug in part. Nice to sit out on the beach at night and still be totally warm! I'm happy to live in this country as laid back and apathetic as Canadians can sometimes be, we're free and it's a beautiful place to live! Now don't get me wrong, I like laid back, but sometimes barely breathing happens with some of us. You have light fireworks under some of our men (and women) to get them excited about anything.

My Amazing MAN!

He's started a new blog, so stayed tuned. He's a man of few words, but a picture is worth a thousand.

Lemonade?

Not too old yet to set up the 'ol lemonade stand! They made $10 from not that many customers. Seems people like to pay more for lemonade than it's worth. It must be the personalized service. It was 35 degrees outside! At least moments later, the beach umbrella came out for some shade!
I will definitely stop at the next stand I see knowing how much fun they had. I must confess I don't always stop and isn't that terrible?! It totally makes the kids' day and probably would mine too if I took the time. We'll be on the lookout!
