Gellatly Nut Farm

We spent the afternoon out at a nut farm, something we've never done, picking walnuts and chestnuts. The gorgeous fall colors were so amazing! Now to try chestnuts roasting.... not on an open fire.

Hey!
We took Mom chestnut picking last week! And have been picking the darn walnuts all month.
As for recipes, there's a site here that has tons of easy & basic recipes: http://www.cooks.com/rec/story/71/
In France they are in EVERYTHING this time of year! Every hot dish -- meat, veg, rice, stuffing, whatever. They stand on their own roasted, pureed, baked, boiled, etc. Chestnut & pumpkin soup is common (and good!), as is Chestnut and mushroom. The French are really keen on chestnut spread (sort of like nutella), and....chestnut ice-cream!
